Coach Heath invited me to Bike Alpine loop with him and Sarah, Nate, and Spencer. They are all VERY fast and strong cyclists. Why he invited me I do not know. I was excited to do it, I had never rode it before. After about 13.5 miles with the group I started feeling faint and was worried I would get to the point of extreme fatigue and need to be picked up. So I turned around just a mile or two past Timp Cave Monument and went back home. It was also 97 Plus Degrees! (1pm, we started) Eeee. I want to do Alpine loop again but after my next race, on Aug 7th. I will start at 5:30am since I am not acclimated to the heat whatsoever. 29.74miles

Had just a few hours to refuel and hit the Track for a group workout. I did a 1.25mile wu, then:

3x800 @ 33:17, 3:06, 3:11

2x400 @ 1:20, 1:20

3x800 @ 3:11, 3:12, 3:07

Then just a little .25mi wd.

Total time 35:49

Had great energy for this workout despite the heat, but then the efforts were short in duration, so not too big a deal. :D

Ummm that is really tough!

I rode Suncrest today and thought maybe my next riding goal will be Alpine Loop, but after reading your report, I will need to train a bit more :) Way to stick with it and not faint (that is scary)!

Toby. You Totally could do it! Two things kicked my butt on it..well 3 things:

1. Went with Wicked fast people. It's much easier at your own pace to do any workout!

2. Heat. I have not acclimated to 97degree workouts. Mine are all usually at 75 degrees or cooler.

3. Health issues..One being low Ferritin (Iron) Levels. I'm just so Tired all the time. :P

I'm going to try to do Alpine again after my next race. :)At my own pace. Haha.

I'm never going to ride with you - YOU ARE wicked fast :)
