Did the fish nibble at you?

From jun on Mon, May 03, 2010 at 13:38:15 from 66.239.250.209

Chilly?

I had a friend do the IM on Saturday. She finished in 14:32:00. She would have done a lot better, but had to change a tire, her chain fell off once, and she got bottle-necked in the swim for a while. She was happy to finish though.

Burt...no, I'm disappointed! Lol. Didn't even see a fish. Saw lots of black floaty plant things tho.

Jun, it wasn't chilly at all for me. The water was 60 degrees but my wetsuit is very nice..warm and comfy. I will need a different suit for my Half Iron in August. This wetsuit will be too hot...

Congrats to your friend Jun. She's a beast. :D Too bad about the bike probs...I bet she could just hear the clock ticking. Plus, her muscles probably got stiff from suddenly stopping for who knows how long....I feel silly, what does bottle-necked mean? Like her wetsuit was tight on her neck?

Seeing things under the water, like plants, freaks me out.

From jun on Mon, May 03, 2010 at 15:07:19 from 66.239.250.209

The bottle-neck means she got stuck in a traffic jam of people as they all tried crowding into the same area; like sand through an hour glass, or pouring liquid out the neck of a narrow bottle. I guess she lost a lot of time at the start just because of that.

Nice!

Burt, I Just tell myself that things like plants and fish are ok to see under water since dead people and monsters would be way scarier!

Jun...Bottlenecked. I think I will soon find out what that is like. The race on Saturday has 5 waves for Olympic and 5 waves for the Sprint. My wave is the 4th, 30 minutes after the Elite take off. I just figure I will swim hard just to get the hell out of there, if I can..The faster out the sooner I get out before another wave comes in.

Sam. This lake I'm swimming in isn't too bad, I can see like a foot or two around me..but it's just green water. Pretty pleasant. I have heard some lakes are so Dark that you can't see your hand in front of your face. Now, that sounds suffocating.

You know Scott, it wasn't cold. About 60 degrees with a nice wetsuit. Pretty comfy.

Lol Toby. That's what I keep telling myself, I'm becoming a fish, I'm going to get better...one of these days I will arrive as a swimmer!

V~ :)
