Swam 3000yd on 4 hours sleep and early in the a.m. 6:15 is not my friend. Got it done tho.

Spent all day in a Red Cross CPR class. I got 100% on my exam. Haha. I can save you!!!

This was pulling teeth: The last thing I wanted to do after a long day is sit on a rock hard seat in my living room. But I got my 75minute ride in. Was supposed to be an "easy spin" but the trainer isn't really easy unless your cadence is low. And I wanted to maintain 90 cadence.

I'm going to be like Squints on Sandlot and purposely try to drown.

Swimming while sleepy is freaky I tell you. I startled myself several times in the pool this morning. I was out of it and pushed off the wall kindof low so it took an extra second to get above water to breathe. By the time I got up I was gasping..haha.

LOL Maybe I will have to have you help me with my swimming. I would feel good knowing if I almost drowned I could be saved. 3000 yds DANG!! I am was happy doing 750(with fins).

U will be safe with me Huans. :D Something funny about the 3000yds..I just looked at the next several weeks of training and coach is upping me to 4000yds!

Holy cow! 4000 yds? I can barely do a 100 =P Really though, I cannot breathe properly while swimming. Should I invest in a snorkel? Right now I am breathing every 3rd stroke but I still am out of breath. Maybe I'm just a pansy. I was CPR qualified once. It's expired now though.

V~With the swimming try swimming slower. Then try breathing one side. Like breath right side one length and left side on the way back. When I swim faster, I have to breathe every 2 strokes. This does not mean you or I suck...My coach when he races will breathe every two strokes as well and his typical pace for 50meters is 36seconds just for training slowly..haha..He has a near perfect freestyle. So even fast swimmers breathe often. I hardly breathe every 3 strokes. Only on my warmup and cooldown. Also pretend you are running. How do you breathe when you run, it is probably rhythmic and relaxed and you don't take giant full breaths. You take medium size breaths..it's the same in the pool. Try to think free and easy.

Missy - Thanks for the awesome advice. I think when I swim, I rush it and try to get to the other side as fast as I can even when I try to go slow. So breathe every two strokes? I've been trying every 3 since they say (youtube videos lol) it is better to swim bilaterally. I used to try to swim every 4 strokes but I would have to stop at each side. I just need lots of practice I guess. Hey what about blowing bubbles while your face is in the water? Do you do that?

From missy on Sun, Apr 11, 2010 at 12:46:43 from 65.100.213.241

Vinh...Yes Bilateral is good. :D If I can I swim every 3. When I first started I went every 5, and my coach told me to stop doing that..haha. So I do 3 unless higher effort then all right side one way down all left side the way back.

When I swim tomorrow I will pay attention to how much I blow bubbles..hehe. I don't usually but sometimes I find myself doing it unconsciously like if I took too deep a breath and like to feel more comfortable I breathe out slightly. Or on a flip turn (which I just started doing) Blow out a little so you don't get water up your nose.
